When a maintenance visit makes sense
If the garden is accessible but the routine work has built up, a maintenance tidy-up can cover mowing, strimming, edging, weeding, hedge shaping, suitable shrub pruning, deadheading and border tidying. Tell us which areas matter most, rather than assuming every task will take the same time.
When to discuss clearance
Overgrown grass, dense brambles and unwanted vegetation can make it difficult to reach beds and paths. Clearance focuses on cutting back the growth and opening accessible working areas. Hedges and shrubs can be trimmed and shaped as part of the agreed scope. Gathering the cuttings is included in the work.
Why photographs help
Show the whole garden and closer views of the dense growth. Include the route into the garden: a narrow passage or access through the house can affect how the work is approached. Garden size alone does not decide the estimated time.
Agree the work before booking
We assess photographs or arrange a visit, then confirm priorities, estimated hours and the charging basis. Materials, larger tree work, stump removal, rubble and specialist work need separate assessment. Read the maintenance and clearance service pages, then send photographs and your postcode.
Put the priorities in order
A useful brief says what you want to use the garden for now, and which areas need attention first. You may want the main path accessible before the rest of the borders are tackled, or the lawn and hedge tidied before discussing further work. Explain which plants should stay and what you want cut back. Where possible, we walk round with you to agree those priorities before starting. For an overgrown garden, we first make enough room to work safely, then follow the cutting-back and tidying tasks agreed for the appointment.
What it costs
Garden maintenance is £65 per hour. One simple hourly rate. Minimum booking 1 hour. No VAT added. We confirm the hours before you book. Garden clearance is £75 per hour when the assessed work needs clearance. Both are subject to assessment from photos or a visit. Green waste is £50 per jumbo bag, charged separately from the hourly rate. The hours depend on the condition, access and amount of agreed work. There is no separate published task rate for mowing, hedge trimming, weeding, suitable pruning or tidy-ups within maintenance.
Keep the extras outside the ordinary tidy
A garden can need more than the maintenance or clearance visit. Point out patchy or mossy grass if you want a separate assessment, rather than assuming lawn renovation is part of mowing. Materials, larger tree work, stump removal, rubble and specialist work are assessed separately. If planting is wanted, the quotation states the agreed supply, preparation and initial-watering arrangements; aftercare is agreed separately too. We also offer landscaping, pressure washing and property services. Explain those requirements when enquiring so the work can be considered under the appropriate service.
Arrange access and the finishing check
For gardening, we bring our professional tools and van; customer power and water are not needed. Explain a narrow passage, no rear entrance or access through the house before booking. You can request a one-off or regular visit, and weekend appointments are available subject to the schedule. At the end, we gather clippings, sweep garden paths and check the agreed work with the customer where possible. Ask about green-waste collection separately if it is needed. Send your postcode and present-day photographs through the quote form to discuss the next step.
